| Enforcement Unit |
|
The Enforcement Unit investigates allegations of misconduct by insurance agents, agencies, and applicants. Evidence found substantiating such allegations is presented at a departmental hearing. Depending upon the findings and recommendations of the hearing officer and severity of the offense, the Superintendent of Insurance will assess a fine, suspend or revoke the insurance licenses, or deny a license application. What the Enforcement Unit can do: The unit pursues possible violations of Title 29 & Title
39 of the Ohio Revised Code. We investigate complaints against
agent(s), agency(s), corporation(s), and broker(s) alleged
to have violated insurance rules & regulations and related
criminal laws. The unit has the authority to bring an administrative
action for example: revocations, fines, and suspensions against
an entity for proven violations and, in appropriate cases,
may refer matters to the county prosecutor's office for criminal
prosecution. In addition, if the unit finds that it is unable
to assist you, we will attempt to refer your complaint to another
agency who can provide assistance. What the Enforcement Unit cannot do: We are unable to cancel any agreement or contract, give legal advice or act as your attorney, or act as a court of law. Your personal attorney can advise you on whether to proceed with a private cause of action. Form to file a Complaint against an Agency, Agent, Corporation or Broker
